Information regarding the reconstruction of Medical SPA Eglės sanatorija in Druskininkai
Medical SPA Eglės sanatorija in Druskininkai is embarking on a major renovation project to improve the wellness experience of its clients. The modernisation of this largest medical spa in Lithuania will include the establishment of a functional diagnostics laboratory, an expanded range of medical services, innovative procedures, the most advanced medical equipment and new treatment programmes for clients. The Medical SPA will be further adapted to the provision of medical spa treatment and medical services, the space will be optimally used, and a higher level of comfort will be ensured for people with mobility issues. Most importantly, the capacity for medical rehabilitation services and spa treatments will increase by almost a third!
In order to comply with the sustainability requirements and to preserve the historical authenticity, the buildings of Medical SPA Eglės sanatorija will be reconstructed rather than demolished. The Medical SPA will have 1100 m2 of indoor and outdoor swimming pools, vertical baths and a specialised rehabilitation pool. Two blocks of the Medical SPA will be reconstructed into four-star accommodation complexes.
During the reconstruction, the Medical SPA shall continue to operate as normal. Every effort will be made to minimise the disruption to clients’ health and peace of mind during the reconstruction, ensuring the provision of services, convenience, and comfort to clients. The first phases of the reconstruction begin in 2025:
- In April 2025, the basement floor of the Comfort Treatment Centre will be closed for reconstruction purposes, and the individual and group physiotherapy and leisure facilities will be relocated to alternative rooms. Access to the Winter Garden will also be terminated; however, the pine forests surrounding the Medical SPA are a great alternative to enjoying nature and fresh air. The renovated space with new treatments and a spa area will open in September 2025.
- In April 2025, the Comfort café “Žalias sodas” will close. Clients will have the opportunity to take a break in the mini-café located on the same floor, where they can enjoy concerts while sipping drinks in the adjacent hall during events. At the same time, the legendary café in the Entertainment Centre will reopen for dancing, bingo nights and other leisure activities. The refurbished Comfort café will open in September 2025.
- In April 2025, the Children’s Playroom next to the Comfort café will be relocated to other spaces until the end of 2026. A new playroom will be opened for children, with even more entertainment and opportunities to have fun.
- In April 2025, the canteens will be refurbished for greater customer convenience. Full catering will be provided as usual throughout the reconstruction process.
- In April 2025, we will start the reconstruction of the main “Žilvinas” buildings, which will include a major refurbishment of the rooms, making them more comfortable and modern. Halotherapy treatments will be relocated to the newly renovated salt chamber, while relaxation treatments will be moved to other rooms.
- In September 2025, the refurbishment of the second floor of the Comfort Treatment Centre will begin. Some of the treatments will be relocated to the already refurbished spaces, and mineral baths, therapeutic mud and underwater massage treatments will be organised in the treatment centres, ensuring quality of service and a comfortable wellness experience for clients.
The reconstruction works at Medical SPA Eglės sanatorija are meticulously planned, however, the timing and sequence of the works may change during the course of the project.
